John Sullivan needs to get over it. He lost his re-election bid for a second term as Cape Coral’s mayor, fought the results and procedures — and lost again.
The voters decided he was no longer mayor, and so did a judge.

Now, he has filed yet another motion — this one 14 pages — on basically the same allegations he lost on the first time. He questions why Cape Coral City Clerk Rebecca van Deutekom was on the canvassing board when she is not a Cape Coral resident.
Cape’s charter does not address what the board should look like and state statute does not address the make-up of municipal boards, only county boards. The judge correctly interpreted there was no case law to support saying that board appointments were not “sufficient grounds to set aside an election.” Also, when Sullivan was mayor, he served on that same board with van Deutekom and signed off on her participation.
